Exeter is a town in Washington County, Rhode Island with roughly 6,300 residents. Incorporated as separate from North Kingstown in 1742, the town has a rich history with many historical buildings still standing today. There are several historical districts in Exeter with preserved architecture dating back to the 18th century such as textile mills, homes, farms and churches. Nine sites in town are included in the National Register of Historic Places.
